Default New 964 Owner with Questions

Just purchased an 89 Guards Red 964 C4. (sold my E30 M3 which I will miss very much) The 964 has been great so far and seems to have been very well cared for with just 100k on the clock. I have the car at the shop as I would like to have some items redone while my excitement is still high (brakes, suspension, fluids, lower valve covers, boots).

A few questions I was hoping for guidance on...

What would be the ideal suspension for street driving? Was thinking Bilstein w/H&R springs based on some threads I read. Don't want to go to harsh where the ride quality is seriously deteriorated. Anything specific to note for a C4?

I would like to buy Aero Mirrors. Anyone know a good place where I could purchase these?

Anyone know where I could by Cup 1 wheels?

Thanks and I'll get pics up soon

I have PPS 9 coilovers on the soft position and they're perfect, a bit stiffer than stock and you can adjust the height. Pelican parts has the Aero mirrors and FVD has Cup 1 wheels licensed by Porsche.

1. H&R/Bilsteins are great compromise for performance and street. People seems to be loving those.
2. Wait till a set comes for sale used, or hit up reputable retailers like Pelican Parts...etc. They are hard to come by.
3. Your options: Used from an owner or replicas. I do not know if Porsche still supplies them.

Get ready for the best car ownership of your lifetime (comes from a car *****.... )

Thanks for the advice.

I may go with the replicas at FVD. They seem to look good from the photos on the site. Hopefully they are not to soft.

I'd love the PSS9s however I hear they are very pricy not sure if I will get the extra value over the HDs and H&R combo.

I have the H&R/Bilstein combo and I really like the ride, not harsh at all. I see aero mirrors for sale from time to time, but be ready to act fast. His aero mirrors unfortunately sold last weekend, but keep an eye out for username Blackbyrd on Pelican or PM him, he seems to come up with 964s that he parts out.

Welcome and congrats on the C4! Post up some pictures when you get a chance. Guards Red on a 964 looks great!

We do carry the Aero Mirror Kit consisting of Genuine Porsche parts. You can view the details here.

I have grown to like the flag mirrors on my 964, I know alot of guys change to the aero mirrors and 993 door handles so it a matter of personal preference

One thing I dont think I will ever like is the 964 steering wheel..I put a 3 spoke on mine..

I run the Bilsteins with H&R green springs and really like them. They seem perfect for spirited driving on off ramps and a nice ride on less than ideal roads. I do a lot of highway driving and the car feels very smooth (taking in account that my other driver is a Jeep Wrangler).

When I bought the car three years ago, the first project was going to be mirrors. Still haven't done them and really can't picture the car with aero now. So old they look cool now.

Welcome!
