Default easiest ways to reduce weight ?

I understand unsprung mass contribute more on handling and response.
I've taken out my tools (set of workshop tools ~5kg) from the bonnet and found better performance (with the spare wheel undereath).

now I am thinking, is it bad to take off the spare wheel ?
would the effect causing the head do not want to turn in since it is too light at the front and cause severe under steering?

any had tried this before on a 964 c2?

ps. I always brake before turning to ensure grip-ness ...

I would look at getting a Cup pipe or G-pipe and take some weight of the back end.

...go on a diet!

The spare tire IS an integral part of the crash protection package.

Nothing you mention relates to unsprung mass - this would be lighted wheels etc and every kilo saved here is the equivelent of 6 sprung kilos.

I've ditched as much as possible in the front - spare, tools, carpet, carpet pops, gas struts. Turn in is great - just make sure when you've finished you get a good geo!

The battery is the heaviest thing up front. There are much lighter batteries available.

This is interesting. I find that my car turns in better and likes mid-corner better with a bit more weight up front (mo' fuel in the tank).

It's because your engine is behind the rear wheels, ha ha ...!!

There isn't much you can do to a street car to save weight and then you have to decide how much is it worth to you.

Removing the spare is not a good idea. As others said it is part of the crash worthiness of the car. I have seen head on collision of two 911's one with spare in place and another without. Both cars were totaled but the spare obviously helped the drivers legs in the car with the spare.

Things you can consider are seats. Aftermarket manual seats can save considerable weight along with rear seat delete and removal of the rear wiper and mechanism if you have one. Removing tools and jack is fine for track use but you will want them on the street.

As others said removing un-sprung weight would help. A set of light weight forged wheels vs the anchors Porsche supplies. If you feel like spending money you can consider the aluminum bearing carriers for the front expensive but worth 4 pounds a side along with aluminum hats for your rotors which is worth another 3-4 pounds. Beyond that you can change out your hood with aluminum or CF but all this won't gain you much. Another thing to consider and IMO is a key improvement is a LW flywheel and clutch package. Engine revs better and is much more fun to drive along with about 50 pounds saved. Also the major one everyone does is the secondary muffler delete that thing is useless and heavy. Also as others said you can use a light weight battery.

If you plan on tracking the car there are many other things you can do but takes away from the street-ability of the car.
