Default Recommend a Steering Wheel - 89 C4

I recently acquired an '89 C4 which I purchased from my Dad. It's bone stock and I don't plan to mod it too much. The one thing I would like to change is the steering wheel though. The circumference is huge yet the grips are thin and stiff.

What 3-prong wheels work well for this car? It does not have an airbag.

I put a Momo mod 07 in my 89 - pretty popular choice. Smaller than the stock wheel and has a reasonable amount of dish.

I have a MOD-07 as well. I have recovered it to make it thicker, but here is what it looks like

Thanks for posting the pic. It looks like what I'm after. Wish I had the nice chrome and carbon fiber inserts. Is it an easy install?

It came with the car, but from what I hear it is a quick swap with the proper adaptor. You also need to defeat the airbag sensor but a quick search on this forum will point you in the right direction for that

I also recommend some Momo wheel, also because for me it was a great increase in tighter steering response.

There are many threads on Momo installation here, and its good to search. Also there is a 'Aftermarket Steering Wheel' thread to give you some other ideas on what to go for.

Of the top of my head you'll need:
Steering Wheel
Horn Botton with proper wiring
Horn button ring so your horn will actually work (~10-15$)
Either a airbag tester or bridge plug (~30$) to eliminate airbag error.
Some sandpaper to trim the steering column.

You shouldn't need the bridge plug / airbag tester in an 89, as they came without airbags.

All I needed was the wheel itself and hub. Horn button came with the wheel, and the horn button ring came with the hub, if I recall correctly. Very simple install. This thread is a good reference. I didn't need to sand anything, fwiw.

I went from the non-airbag stock wheel (should be the same as yours) to the Momo (Cup) Mod-07. Easy swap, steering feels more direct. Perhaps a RS/928 non-airbag type wheel if you want the stock look but a smaller diameter.

Wow, first 964 I've seen with BBS RSII's. Would like to see some more pictures from different angles when you get the chance.
