Default The current 964 market

My perspective on what I've seen recently.

Asking prices are going up for cars that are in good condition. I see more cabriolets than anything out there mostly because I believe a lot of the coupes have been converted to track cars.

The "low mileage" point is creeping up as well and I see many 964's for sale stating this that have 75k on them. Considering the age of these cars now, I guess that is in line. Quite frankly I would be leery of a 20+ year old car with 40k miles on it due to it dry rotting from sitting around.

What do you see?

I see prices creeping up as well. You can't find decent ones under 20k anymore. It's about time for the 964 to get some recognition. I've owned a 3.2 and the 964 is a vastly superior car, in my opinion. My 86 Carrera felt antiquated by comparison.

You can't generalise too much - my six owner car with 52K kms (~32K miles) is also well far from "dry rot".

Prices def going up. I bought my 90 black cab with 112k on it for 12grand. Was a CA car its whole life and shows it underneath. No rust whatsoever. It needed a new top, brakes, struts, and plenty of small crap. I have done all work myself including motor out for clutch recently. I have prob dumped 12k plus in parts. I am a little picky. Like new climate control unit, brake lights, starter, slave, you name it. It had a re-seal and new top end at 70k, never blows a puff of smoke. I have put 25k miles on it in year and a half. Never has broke down on me. Has 135,000 miles now. I would have to get 25 grand for it to get my money back. I will never sell it, so the good news if prices continue to spike like I have noticed also, then maybe it will be worth what I have into it someday..Haha. What it worth on a good day now? Maybe 17k?

Yeah, prices are going up, eh?

I bought mine for about $30k nearly 10 years ago, must have put at least that much into it and now I can sell it for, what? $20k.

But hey, it is a hobby, not an investment.

More than likely anything else you could have bought at the same time would now be worth $3k! :-)

964 porsches are hot items right now.

Prices are at low point (and have already started going up).

Great way to enjoy an air cooled 911 without having pay for 993 prices or having to go into much older pre 1990 era 911 bodies.

The body style looks great and apart from making good street cars they also make good track cars.
People are also using them for backdating too.

I think the deal train is over on 964 coupes. Hard to find them now which is too bad because i was enjoying the bargin basement prices for fun cars that needed very little to be road worthy!

Here in the Uk 964 prices seem to be edging close to 993 levels.. nowhere near as much difference now as there used to be.

I thought the same, however seems to be a few cheap ones kicking around at the moment on the ph classifieds. That said there also seems to have been a few optimistically priced ones go up, be interesting to see if they sell.

Quite strong pricing as well as lots of buying interest here in Canada as well. I know of three or four guys locally looking for 964s/RSAs.

a nice low owner 964 is hard to find as expected of a twenty plus year old car typical owner numbers are over 10 to find a one or two owner car is getting very difficult as is mint unmolested examples.

Prices are increasing which is a good feeling about time these cars deserve the recognition they are getting. I put mine on ebay late one night around midnight and at 12.30 am half hour later my phone and inbox was getting messages. (maybe because I started listing at 99p lol naturally I ended listing when it hit £14K and had one day to go)
