Default Body shake/surge

I've noticed my car subtly shakes, almost surges at times around 2000-2500 rpm.
The rev counter shows no change and looks steady but there's a definite body shake at these rpm.

Any ideas?

Tony

Blown engine mounts? Do you feel it while driving at a constant speed in the 2000-2500rpm range? Or while accel/decelerating through that range? How about if you hold the engine at that RPM while stationary? Feel it mostly in your butt, feet, steering wheel, or...? Need more info to help.

It definitely shakes while accelerating up a hill. It's more butt feel than anything else. On the highway in top gear she's smooth. Will try her stationary and see how feels.

Changing the engine mounts. Is this a big job?

Didn't make it home. Again. A whining sound was could be heard in the interior as I was gridlocked in traffic. Once traffic was clear she just gave up. All the lights came on and she wouldn't start.

So will get the mounts looked at.

Engine mounts could be the cause of your shake, especially if you say you feel it in the butt and it is worse under a heavy load. Engine mounts are definitely NOT the cause of your no-start condition - again would need more information to help on that.
