Seams interesting and very tempting, easy fast and probably much cheaper than spot welding a steel panel and probably lighter ....
How solid is it ....?! ...
I think it's been discussed on this forum in the past and conclusion was that it's not safe enough in case of a crash;
if the car ends on the roof the panel could be ripte off and debris could go through...I suppose it should be find for a race car with full roll cage and when wearing helmets...

I will call them and ask as well as for the front bonnet

A glass sunroof will shatter long before a carbon sunroof infill panel would rip off. As long as the carbon panel is well bonded and strong enough it should be fine.

As for a full roof skin, possible to run without a roll cage as done on some BMW M3 models

Hey russ. I think you can remove quite a lot of weight and the steel panel itself is a real saving. I'm watching eagle eyed as i have never used my sr. Good luck and keep us posted on progress :-D

Ive emithered lws, wiv q,s about fitment, ect;

Ill have the roof re trimmed, have a linning made up in alcantra. Have the dash and dor trims done as well.

The outside, a black carbon panl will look odd.
Either paint it white, or viynl it white????
Dunno.

The white flash is having new h@r roll bars fitted tommoz, fingers crossed all will be well. Hoping for a big improvment.

Got yourself a project there russ! Agreed carbon would look odd but then it might match your wing? Maybe a white race number in the middle would soften it all up...

Love to see the result Russ...

Thinking as well ....sunroof, front bonnet & lithium battery would save a total about 25kg

Thanks for posting your findings, been looking for a nice carbon bonnet for a while. Did you go for the full carbon or the one with the fibre glass structure? Any chance of any pics of the other side? Many thanks, Jim.

I deleted my sunroof and fitted a steel panel from Fenn Lane. The Alcantara headlining was supplied by Southbound Trimmers. Thread here https://rennlist.com/forums/964-foru...e-sunroof.html

Is the steel hood 20Kgs? Ont he site they say the carbon hood is half the weight of the original.. so that would make it 10kgs? am also interested in the Carbon sunroof delete...

Is there any advantage of CF over the Fenn Lane replacement panel?

I assume you have to bond the CF part in, which woold proably look ok on a Black car but still need painting on anything else

So you could still bond the Fenn Lane panel in after having it painted and it would look totally standard from outside. Not expensive either. Though of course welding it in would be the best option

Mine was welded from the middle to the sides, so the panel "pulls-up" to the roof as you go for rigidity, and then the gap was filled with U-Pol. I was told this would be far more robust and would have no issues with cracking, which could be the case with materials of different properties.
