Hi Fellas,
I need the help of anyone familiar with prices in the states.
I had a PPI carried out on a 964 C2 Manual yesterday.
The car has done 95k miles and from the photos looked in top condition.
However after the PPI report and photos it's not what it at first seemed.
The timing chain housing on both sides has an oil leak, there is a small dent in the rear wing just above the bumper, and it will probably need a re spray as the passenger side has many scratches down the side, there is an an air on fault, the windscreen wiper speed setting does not work etc etc.
These issues do not concern me, though I would prefer it didn't have them, But I'm not looking for a pristine car, it will be a project and approached in the same way as Babalouie has done his, given its state, something's will have to be done immediately.
So, The car is for sale at $28,000 US dollars.
The estimate to put the car right mechanically is approx. $6,000, plus body work another $6000 possibly.
I need guidance on what it's really worth.
I think its being sold on consignment, the seller knows the issues and I will call him tomorrow morning to negotiate the price.
Help!

I would start negotiations by subtracting out the $12,000 in mechanical and body work. Then work up from $16,000. I agree totally with the other Rennlisters comments. The car is not worth what they are asking.

any way you could post everything that it needs? the mechanical things you listed are no where close to $6k. a good coat of wax might hide those scratches pretty well, or maybe will get you by for now.

The car definitely sounds like it is priced to capitalize on the 964s recent uptick in popularity.
Unlike many other cars, you can paintless dent repair quite a bit out of a 964s rear quarter panels due to the single layer construction.
Aside from the problems you know, what has been done to the car as far as service, maintenance, repairs, rebuilds? Does it come w/ records?

That dent looks very paintless dent repair friendly.
Battery tray rust is unfortunately common. I recently treated something that was brewing on my car, but I caught it early while it was still surface only.
You can get all the replacement panels to fix that (front tub floor, battery tray), but the actually installation would require a big teardown and some capable body professionals.
What does that area look like from the inside of the tub?

looks like it is this car:

its a rare 1994 964, but as you can see in the pics there is alot of road rash. because of the rarity, i'd say mid $20's
