Question 964 sill cover / shark fin repair (epoxy, glue etc.)

quick question for you guys :
would you glue / epoxy these "brackets" on the back of the shark fin before mounting them back to the fender ? it has been mentioned here before that you could epoxy the cracks and i was just wondering if that is the correct way to go and if there are other opinions or methods.

i ordered this part used
964 559 095 01 sill cover (driver side) - $119.60

and my biggest concern is the cracks in the "brackets" on the rear of the shark fin - the original parts were torn off so this was the only reason i replaced them in the first place. It took me about 30 mins to remove the two fasteneres that came with it since i was scared that i would end up tearing them all the way and then the entire mission would be futile.

thanks in advance for your replies.

I cleaned and wirebrushed the parts and epoxied the whole thing together. It worked well....too well...as I don't think I can separate them again.

I had a similar problem and I epoxied the fasteners through the "brackets". I did this a few years ago and no problem so far. Much cheaper than getting a "new" sharkfin

Yup, I used All Purpose Goop adhesive to glue those back onto the car. One on the shark fin was broken and the lead one on the sill (at the back of the front wheel arch) was broken too.

These clips aren't suppose to unclip to remove the panel anyway. You're suppose to remove the 10mm plastic nut on the back to remove the panel.

I'd wait until the first time they loosen...when you're jacking the car up and bump one wrong, or have to pull them for a repair.

it was already loose and tabs were broken hence why i ordered a new / used shark fin.

while i was super gluing (with ultra liquid control - hope it is not PE or PP) i found another crack which i just went ahead and glued as well ....

it seems as though i could have just used the old shark find and could have glued the fasteners to the part and installed then, even though it would have lost all designed room for movement....
or ordered a brand new part and have it painted.....

I also epoxied them on and had them break off when the jack wasn't just right, like KiaB stated!

Since the epoxy is hard and the shark fin and lug are a slightly pliable plastic, I just popped off the excess epoxy and redid the connection.

one of my fins popped off when the car was being lifted to do the box fluid, and it had already been epoxied. i was thinking it was a little ghetto that a previous owner had fixed it like that, but seeing that its pretty common does make me feel a little better!

Yah, me too. Gluing plastic can be a challenge. The gorilla glue seems to be holding well.

If I have another glue joint failure (when, I should probably say) I'll try the weatherstrip adhesive- it's supposed to be the bomb.
