Default How to fit ABS brake ducts?

Ok, so the Techart combined brake/fog light units have been removed and I have the new ABS units. The question is whether I need to cut a slot in the bumper to secure the duct side of the unit or can it be a press fit? I'm assuming it's going to require cutting.

You need to cut a slot, assuming you want to leave the tabs in place

What did you use as a bonding agent? What did you do with the bolt ends from the fog lights? They do not line up with the dimple on the Techart duct.

John Mc--sorry to butt in but I am just preparing to install mine as well.

Thanks

I used a teroson product. Can't remember the number but its a pu adhesive. Similar to windscreen bonder. Just a couple of blobs so its easy to remove should the time come. I didn't want any visible screws. Just drill out that rivet and remove the studs.

I reused a bracket from the Techart unit and am epoxying that to the brake duct. This means no screw holes and can remove the unit without removing the bumper first. As you can see I also used a Dremel tool to make a slot for the tab.

With indicators. Obviously it has yet to be painted and you won't see light through gaps when it's on the car.

I used the fiberglass Rennline ducts and did the usual cut slot on the inside edge of the bumper opening, then I threaded the 10mm nuts back onto those bumper studs so that the nut was flush w/ the stud, then I applied GOOP adhesive to the back of the duct to affix it to those bumper studs. Worked out well enough. Looks clean from the outside, no fasteners. I had the bolt hole indentation filled in when I had the pieces painted (prior to installation).

Vandit, that's what I hope mine will look like. I had hoped to spray mine GP White with a custom spray can but the shop said it will need to be 2 pack. Did a paint shop do yours?

Yea, a paint & shop did mine. I was already getting the rear bumper resprayed, so I just had them paint the ducts too.

I just bought vents with fog lights and I'm getting ready to install them. Two questions: should I remove bumper to do the install and how do you determine position of the slot for the tab?
