Default wheel alignment

Hi mates,

As I've been mentioned earlier my steering does not give a full confidence while I am driving in high speed, say 100mph+ , and the car does not driving completely straight when it should be.

so I am bringing the car to a porsche specialist tomorrow and do the wheel alignment ( which cost 100 pound more, whilst mr. tyre only cost 30...) , as well as checking the bushes and ball joints, before going for a set of new dampers.

since this car is my daily car, should I request the guys there to alter front wheel setup, to toe in a little bit in increase my response in corners? would it become very difficult to drive ?

Thanks,
Arthur

I'd probably wait till after the new dampers for an alignment, otherwise you're going to be paying for two alignments.

Maybe just have him review for worn parts instead of the whole alignment.

Toe-in will actually make cornering less responsive and make the car more stable in a straight line.

When I fitted new rims to my newly acquired 964 I decided to get a geo check at quik fit. I couldn't believe how out of alignment the car was. Every wheel was going a different way!

The guys at quik fit did a great job and had all the latest laser tech to get the geo spot on.

Cost me 65.00 and they gave me back a different car. Felt so sorted after the alterations.

For anyone who has acquired a car and has never had this done I would recommend this check. The best 65.00 I've spent on mine so far.

You may want them to also check steering reservoir hoses and steering rack for leaks. I am in the process now of adding motor mounts. if you read posts on those then you can see most the issues that lead me to want to replace them. That maybe another thing you want to look at. Good luck with it and hope it works out for ya mate.
