Hi,
The paint code of my 1990 C2 is L80K Guards Red
I need to have a few rattle cans mixed so that I can do a bit of touching up in the wheel wells and behind the sill covers (rocker covers for the US members) where I've had to cut off and reweld various brackets that had corroded. Can anybody in the UK recommend somewhere (preferrably west London) where I can take in the fuel cap for a colour match and walk out with 4 rattle cans? Forget the likes of halfords... as their idea of this colour code is waaaaaaaaay off. The car was resprayed about 2 years ago (by the PO) so the existing paintword is truely representative of the code.
I need to do this touching up first before I can reassemble the entire oil system and then take it to a professional body shop for some metal work.
Thanks
Rob

I've had custom paint colors done with these companies. Not sure if they ship to the UK or not.

Hi Rob,
I can't help with a walk-in shop in your area, but on-line I have always used http://www.paints4u.com/ and had excellent matches using the factory paint codes; even on tricky metallics. Plus the cans ar good quality i.e. deliver a good, non sputtering cone of paint. Of course, that isn't a guarantee that they won't get it wrong!

Give these guys a call. It has been a long time since I got rattle cans from them but it was a decent match for a Honda. They are based in New Malden just off the A3.

Ive used auto-paint before with good results. However, can i add another question...is there a way to physically scan the colour as it is (not what it should have been) so the new paint will match perfectly...if so, i might get brave with my wheels...

Just called them and it sounds very promising. They can either go via the paint code or match off a supplied sample. I'll take both along tomorrow morning and they'll mix up a few cans whilst I wait :-)
Gotta love service like this!

All being well I'll also be looking you up in a few weeks Mr Lemass for some prospective body work :-)
Got a few rust bubbles in the corners above the rear lights :-(

Rob,
If you are looking at doing more repairs, certainly go and see Tom at Lemass. He has done some tidy work on his C4 and others. No connection just someone who has done the same work on my own C2.
