Inspirational! A lot of work ahead in the new garage, but doing it this way will give you piece of mind for years to come about fixing rust, leaks, etc...

I did same with an old mustang convertible I had, the satisfaction when all completed was great!
Good luck Daniel and congrats on the new home.

Great thread! I had mine done some months ago. Beware, it will be sacred to drive once finished. If you need some advice let me know, am also in NL, in the far south.

First of all thank you guys for the nice welcome!

I've been doing some more work yesterday. Statrted with cleaning out all the glue on the inside. Wasn't looking forward to this (also seeing boxey911's post), but hey it has to be done.

Left back seat and parcel shelf are getting there.

Also the top and left side of the transmission tunnel are nice and clean.

And I'm now working on the left sill (man what a lot of glue did they put on there ) where I got half of the glue removed before I called it quits fot the day.

I'm going to remove as much as I can but it does not have to be absolutely free of glue. I will be putting in Dynamat to keep some noise out. Thinking of the light weight version. Does anyone have experience with this?

Did some more work this weekend. Cleaned out the anti drone plates (not sure if this is the correct description) with a heat gun and a chisel.

Left hand side => more rust! This was the side with the mid sized swimming pool.

Right hand side => no problems.

Transmission tunnel right hand side (before I removed the remaining glue).

You're doing a great job removing that glue. Much more thorough than me.

Regarding the dynamat, Bpas used similar (see link to his thread below) and Ras62 has just used it in his. I'm sure it will cut noise down a lot and not add much weight.

https://rennlist.com/forums/964-foru...r-install.html

I tried to avoid using anything, however it's necessary to use something at least 10 mm on top of the trans tunnel so that the console fits on top without gaps underneath. Where padding was needed I used 10 mm closed cell foam. With the carpet in place I would say that the cabin noise is fine for normal cruising speed. It's only when I go over 4500rpm that it gets noisy.

Hi guys have been busy with our new house the last couple of months.

Time for a brake now, also approved by the misses ;-), to do some other things including working on the Porsche.

So hopefully some regular updates to come!

Daniel,

Let us know about the Dynamat, thinking about the same thing for my car.. is it as good as the standard insulation at keeping out noise?
