GRINDING NOISE REAR FAN BLOWER MOTOR
hi
i think one of the bearings on the electric motor must be dead
do you think I can unplug the electrical connection to the motor
and briefly start the engine to check where the grinding noise comes from ?
if no noise then ,i have found the culprit !!
Would there be a risk of blowing a fuse or worse by doing that ?
Should I also disconnect other bits at the same time?
Thanks in advance for your advice

Disconnect it, it's 1 plug.
Just remember your HVAC will only work on Max Cold or Max Hot when the rear blower is disconnected. Any temp in between and it'll shut down the HVAC system.

The **** on the right which controls air vent temperature for the climate control unit. If the car senses the rear blower is disconnected, then the climate control system will only work when the **** is either all the way to the left (max cold) or all the way to the right (max heat). Any position in between those two positions will cause the climate control to not run.

No point in checking maybe. If it's grinding then sounds like the motor bearing is gone and the fan is now scraping the casing. Any more and it will jam and blow fuses.
Had exactly the same problem and fixed it all up over the weekend..

have a similar grinding sound. Disconnected the fan and that grinding noise goes away. Do you think it’s the bearing and is it a big job getting a new bearing? I’ve attached a 5 second video
