Default Which oil do you use?

Searched and went back 5 pages. I'm sure this has been discussed, but I didnt find it. I am almost ready for an oil change (due to time, not mileage). What do you guys use/recommend? Stick with something boring like mobil 1, or go with something more "fancy" like royal purple? I've used both of those before with good results. Actually, last week I had my gearbox oil swapped to rp. Didnt notice much difference, but I'm not sure I would have. PO used good lubes (although not sure what that one was) and the 6k miles oil that came out was very clean, and i had not 1 shaving on the magnetic drain plug...

Anyway, sorry to get a little off topic there at the end, my adhd kicks in sometimes! What oil do you guys recommend??

Thanks!

I only use "the green oil", made in the USA. Use 20/50 in North Carolina.

and by "the green oil" you guys mean????

also, we have very varied climate here in tx. hopefully whatever I go with will be good for 30-105 outside temps... the car does stay in the garage though, so the coldest of temps will most likely not be seen by my 964.

Brad Penn Racing Oil 20W/50.

Order two cases from Weiner. He tapes crush washers to the cases for you - just something he does.

Amazon also carries it. If you have Amazon Prime then shipping is free .

I'm also a TX guy. This is the only oil I would run in my 964.

I like the idea of supporting Steve too. I didn't know he shipped this oil!

I've used it. Seems to be good. I am not using it because its not available locally. I hate paying shipping costs for a heavy consumable.

Default Valvoline VR-1

Valvoline VR-1 Fully Synthetic 20-50w and almost always available at the local auto parts stores I have checked

It contains 1500 ppm ZDDP and you need ZDDP for your engine

I looked for Brad Penn...did not want to pay shipping.

I looked for the Mobil VR motor cycle oil... even the harley dealership was out.

If you watch for the sales on the Valvoline VR-1 "Fully Synthetic" in 20-50 normally at $8 per quart, you can get it for $3.49. I bought (actually my loving wife!!) me ten cases.

I wanted to use an oil that I had a higher likelihood of finding on the road if need be (yes, I always carry an extra quart). I travel occasionally in my porsche and she will burn about a quart every 1500-1800 miles.
