I'm thinking of also fitting the billet shifter (along with the golden rod and short shift kit) and the same for smoothing out the rear seats with foam. I'm very curious how this looks.

Thanks!
Daniel,

I have recently had a bit of a computer/camera nightmare, so don't have any decent pictures to hand. The best I can do is a picture of the rear that I posted in the "Only black 964's" thread, page 18, post #257.

To try and paint a picture, I have the Rothsport billet shifter ("clear" finish) in an all black interior Appbiz interior, with Recaro PP, Heigo Clubsport and harness bar, black Schroth 6pts, Momo 07, Rennline Euro lower dash w/passenger air bag delete. Also have Rennline full race cup boards for driver and passenger, in silver finish. I don't want to hijack this thread but at some point I'll take pics and start my own thread.

I looked at that too but I thought it was too thin and therefore not so good for areas where you just need it for padding to help the carpet fit well? Expensive too!

So I went for the type of stuff recommended by Wachuko, ThomasC2, Geordie etal. I searched ebay for 'closed cell foam' and this is what the stuff I got from a UK ebay shop looks like:

Hopefully I'll have some pics next weekend when I try it out.

Yep have got one of those. I believe you have to file it down to fit our glass. I presume that means file down the female side?

Steve, from memory you would need to reduce the male side by a couple of MM

I just used a rubber washer and then you dont need to reduce it at all

Default Daffy's backseat with no carpets

As you can see lots of cleaning to do... man it was HEAVY and a little wet in the rear passenger floorboard.

Actually, I was also undecided as to whether or not go Cup/N-GT interior or RS Ltwt.

My view is that you could just remove the majority of the old glue and supplement with a 3M or equivalent spray-on adhesive if you were going to re-carpet.

In my case 10 gallons of laquer thinner about 50 small towels and a lot of elbow grease. I will never do this again!

Ha!

I now have a lovely pair of perma-baldy knees (ooh matron) and shins thanks to the cursed factory glue. Day two, the cargo shorts were history and heavy cotton Carhart-type strides were worn.

Adopting the in-cabin foetus position for extended periods was not exactly my idea of fun, too.

Ah, the joys of spring time light-weighting ...

I'm not sure about the therapeutic part Steve but would love to take a look, if the weather is fine I will try and call by. Your business unit is Crewe?

Today's update:

The soundproofing on top of the rear shelf came out mostly in one piece:

Found an aerial wire in the roof lining that might aswell come out:

Gear **** and centre console removed:

Followed by the tunnel carpet:

Pedal board removed and both front wells dry, thankfully:

Sill carpets removed, revealing the famous glue:

Lots of old alarm wiring and that aerial wire that weren't connected to anything removed:

With all carpets now removed, ras62 turned up to give me a hand at pulling out soundproofing in the rear. There was a swimming pool hiding in the rear seats:

Making good progress now and looking forward to more cleaning up tomorrow!

What memories! Trust me I wouldn't like to do it again Especially the sound deadening tar sheeting stuff!

Great progress though Steve, good job

I used a heat gun on the tar sheeting stuff then multiple applications of thinner. I also removed all the fixed glass since I had to work around the roll cage!
