For consumables where I want OE quality (e.g. same brake rotors and pads without the Porsche tax) I use Type911 or Design 911. For stuff that you can only really source from Porsche, I go direct to the local Porsche centre because I found it more cost effective e.g. I got my RS engine mounts at a lower price from Porsche than Gert or FVD were selling them for. I've also used a number of US suppliers for aftermarket stuff; Rennline for engine carrier brace, Appbiz for interior stuff like RS door cards and Pegasus racing for Hawk blue brake pads. Shopping around is definitely the order of the day for 964 parts. However, be very wary of ebay because buying a used part usually means that it's 20 years old....and therefore no better than the one you're replacing!

Nice one - now that's a detail I enjoyed LoL.
Guess I'll have an excuse for a random post on the 991/6/7 fora in the next few week.
Hell, I might as well go 986/7 too

no doubt - now I have my eye on a 996 Cup wheel ...
Alcantara a bit worse for wear but its cheap and sexy even with a couple bald patches ... or maybe a 993 RS wheel?
6Cup shd look like this ...

Aha! Well luckily I already knew that white was the fastest color! And I agree on the gold BBS ...
here's my worn but far from wary 01 cup from a flattering golden angle ...

Funny thing is after all the previous modding and chopping and racing and modding and looking and modding .. (you get the idea)
...this time I was just looking for a honest stock 64 for 90/10 road/track use.
Simple ask I thought. Too much RL! You guys in the UK are truly spoiled for choice and price!
I searched hi&lo and n'er an honest/clean/unstoried one to be found. Except red ones and targa's but i don't like either.
I mean we have to put up with adverts/cars like this .... seriously!?!

Murphy's law of some form. When I was looking for a 6RS to track, I couldn't find anything but garage queens!
Can't say I'm not happy about it - will have to review the spring and tire profile before deciding further on road use limitations
AC delete ... hmmm. I'm sure the LSD will help with parking lot manoeuvres.

I mean for nice to haves like the brake ducts or a carpet set Boxey. Thanks for that all that. I'll dig around.

Once again guys thanks for the feedback, the congrats and the general RL'ness.

More pic's & vids to follow when the RSE (emulate - per PO) arrives.
Maybe I'll call her (E)Amelia

Fuch - one day, before you know it, you're going to write 2 lines!

Thanks Frank - I saw the thread earlier! Sick in bed hey?
I'm partial to the cup 1's...
or those new version of the E88 type with only 7 forks - might only come in CL tho
Prefer them to 9 fork like the 6cups or 5 like the new cup below
(Seems they want more air to the brakes and likely lightness)

For the money/tuffnes/weight tho, might look into the OZs which I ran on my 6RS.

thanks Geordie - looks like your C2 been on similar weight-loss program! Are you UK based? G=Northener right?
I ask as I'm sick of the shipping costs to SA and my Guern sister is coming down soon.
I could ask her to add a set of Cup rims to her luggage - I'll tell her they're lightweight
But seriously ... who do you like for mod supplies up there - 911UK, Gert @ Carnewal?
Please let me in on a few secrets!

You are correct sir, although I currently live on the west coast (USA).

I'll restrict my supplier comments to the USA specialists, who are generally competitive on price and very good to excellent, when it comes to service. In some circumstances even with the additional shipping, they may prove more cost effective than UK/German specialists.

I've spent plenty of cash on mods and had very good experiences with Rennline (currently have a sale in progress), Rennsport (Steve Weiner) and Appbiz.

Steve Weiner (Rennsport) can usually get most of the stuff I'd ever want/need. As a bonus, he always answers the 'phone and I've found his vast experience and enthusiasm, invaluable. He is also a Rennlist Sponsor, to boot.

See here: http://rennsportsystems.com/

I'll look forward to your thoughts and impressions when your 964 arrives.

Again, congratulations!

PS Just noticed SuncoastParts posted above me (#22).

I got my OEM RS transmission mount from them and they were very good too!

Whoops also can't believe I didn't mention my lovely billet shifter, RS single belt pulleys, "Goldenrod" (FDM) etc from Jeff Gamroth @ Rothsport :

thanks Geordie - appreciate the detail and I'll be sure to look up some of your old thread.
Might just find a freight forwarder as a solution.
It just bugs me to pay 2x the price of an item due to the shipping.
Amazing how there are more aftermarket guys for P in California than in Germany!

sml ... this is a special interchangeable one so here you go
Not so easy with dead pedals tho!

I guess its ok ..

Have I jumped the gun? Gone to deep? Made a mistake?!

....all I know about 964's is they look great and remind me of my 996 cup's directness. I've been missing my road driving since I jumped to the cup ... might need to soften 'a bit' but the 64 is the solution.
My car wants to be like your car when it grows up!

I love how small, solid and loud my 964 is…when I read that mods list I think about everything I experience in my car and multiply that x3 in a car like yours. My blood temperature rises when I start walking to my car…I think it would boil if I was walking to this car! It's ultimately what I want my 964 experience to be like.

(anyone tired of their “demanding and raw” highly modified 964 and want to trade for a mostly stock, strong running Slate Grey car??)

Since the 01 Cup has then, for sure, Gold BBS’ are calling. The subtle 911 brother link of the two cars is too cool. I can see them pictured together already!
Looking forward to reading about your future adventures with the car.

^^^^^
Racing tape on a rotated tach. Yeah, I'm a dork that way.
Love the racy feel...until I can get all the real parts like your car.

Do you still own the Cup? If so, pics of the brothers together sometime?
Especially if they both end up sporting gold wheels!
