Default Project Shrek - Winter's here

And it is here for good it seems. Just finished shoveling 10 inches of powder. By the time I was done, another 2 fell on the upper part of the drive.

You just have to love the "4" on this Carrera 4. 100 yards after the hairpin turn, I am still gauging forward process through the side window, but it is going forward with aplomb. The conditions are really treacherous, with a salted slushy base covered by 4-6 inches of powder. It is drifting at its best. To be done only uphill. Downhill, there is no telling where it will stop.

fantastic george - I just put my snow tires on yesterday - then woke up today to a heatwave - we were freezing a week ago and it's almost 60f today!

Enjoy the snow - best car in the world in the snow...

Looks like fun. Be careful. I would love to drive my 964s in the winter but they salt the roads so much that it eats them alive.

Fantastic pictures George. I love seeing these cars being used.
Just think of the handling skills you develop in conditions like that. Wonderful!

You're inches deep in powder...and I have a track day planned for this weekend!

Thank you all for the kind words.
Norm, project Shrek is rather finished than started. A search for "Shrek" will yield the different steps over the last 3 years.

Next larger job is repairing the (previously botched) bondoed rear left fender. That will wait until spring. For now I am enjoying the heated sport seats, the working AC (works wonders to defog the windows), the new windshield washer setup (never had it so efficient).
I love seeing the faces of the other drivers, from smug to stunned when the road turns uphill.

Edit: there is also the matter of a new engine with some special parts coming next spring...

Wow George, you are really in winter for sure. Looks great in the snow. Can't wait to hear about you engine project.

PS. On a side note I hope to pay you guys a visit this summer and see Shrek in the flesh. I am doing the l'etape du Tour this summer and will fly in and out of Geneva. How far are from there?

Good luck with the l'Etape. I did it in 2000 when it climbed Mont Ventoux (the year of the Lance/Pantani battle). [stage link] Over 7,500 started that day.
It was an incredible day, good luck training for it!

Sorry George for the hijack.

Getting some sun after 4 days of more or less permanent snowfall. cumulated, about 40 inches fell so far, with more forecast for tomorrow.
But for now, photo-op:
