on a different note. My tire guy told me that they use some kind of sealant because this style of bead is known to leak. I've not driven much on these yet but one of mine is leaking - not sure where from yet (I know, I need to do my own homework there) but assuming it's the bead. Is this something you guys have experienced?

I hate to say it but 3 piece wheels are prone to leak a little. My brand new speedlines sat on a shelf for 6 months and had 12-20 pounds of pressure when I put them back on my car. They were set to factory pressures when I put them on the rack. The originals were flat after sitting 6 months and being set to 50PSI. Although those are 13 year old tires I use for winter storage. I always double check my Fikse's as well before going for a ride. Usually they are down a few pounds after sitting a month. BBS does a nice job of making the bead rough so it seats better but once rubber builds up most tire places won't take the time to clean any stuck on rubber which can cause a leak. Corrosion can be a factor on older wheels as well. My cup I's on my 928 leak after several months as well. It could be due to their PSD TPMS which has 2 holes and 2 sensors per wheel vs standard cup I's.
Did you try testing them in a large tub if water to see if you can see any bubbles?
BTW the sealant thing sounds like BS. Usually they only use a lube which is essentially vegetable oils and animal fats for the tire to slide over the rim. Not sure how you would apply a sealant if the idea is to make it slide vs grip.

If it wasn't the person it is, I would say BS too - Sounds like something he knows to do when it's needed and something about these wheels made him feel ike he needed to. I'll ping him after I confirm where it's ccoming from. It's always possible the wheels halves are leaking.
I've had a couple other sets of 3 piece wheels over the years and have not had this issue yet. It was down to 10lbs after sitting a few weeks.

Happens all the time. Installers need to use extra lube on the e88 and higher psi to seat the bead or it will not seat all the way.
