Alex Roy trashes the 964 on Drive Channel
#32
Alex Roy made a name for himself a being a hired gun, of sorts, by competing in Cannonball Run type coast to coast races/rallies. He did try his hand in Grand-Am GT, in a Porsche no less, but had little if any success.
In 20 years time, I'm sure somebody will be able to look back at the current 997 GT3RS 4.0 and find faults. What he fails to realize is that Porsche saw fit to start the Carrera Cup and SuperCup Series with the 964. It's place in history is cemented.
He needs to double check his math if he thinks a 993 C2S is more expensive than a 991...

Exactly I heard him say that rubbish about a 1998 being 100k.
As they would say in the Inbetweeners 'bellend' :-)

Walter, Walter,!
Way too many famous idiots these days. Every dickhat with a camera / microphone fancies themself a reality TV star in the making.
I'm not sure how the vidio fits into this thread, but ole Walt's driving vidios never fail to amaze me. I could watch him drive all day

I agree that it was an ignorant statement.
However, the Drive channel is actually pretty good, Chris Harris segments are my favorite and there are other factory explorations, like the Porsche Classic Factory.

Perhaps we should check over in the 993 section to see if they are raving about how he talked up the 993...
If the same guy made a comment about how great the 964 was and how bad the 928 because of electronic gremlins we'd be singing a different tune I think.

I was resisting posting the obvious but what the heck...
I don't know anyone who's driven a lot of sports cars that would say the 964 was rubbish. Steering, chassis and looks (which are becoming increasingly appealing as it's the perfect bridge between old and new Porsche).
