Default Aftermarket cruise control?

Hi All,

I'm looking at a 1990 C2 that doesn't have cruise control. I drive 3 hours a day, and am wondering if it's possible to add cruise to a 964 that never had it? Anyone have advice?

Thanks.

Give Dakota Digital a call. There are also several street rod suppliers offering "add on" cruise. MAybe one of those would work.

Some bits come up on eBay from time to time. My hope is for someone doing a stripped out RS conversion to sell the whole lot at once. I think some have wiring in place, some not.

Welcome to the fourm dtsol

Your profile doesn't say where you're from...if in the States, DC Auto is one option.
Follow this link, at the very least all the parts are pictured: http://dcauto.gotdns.com/illustration/index/982912265

You'll be commuting in the 964 for three hours most days? Wow.

Oh.... this

FWIW, about 30 years ago I installed a Sears cruise control kit in a car (not a Porsche) and it worked very well. It was not hard to install. You needed to attach a couple of magnets to the driveshaft and a sensor on a bracket that picked up the magnetic field, and there was a mercury switch which you attached to the firewall that acted as an emergency over-ride. There might also have been a wire that piggybacked onto the brake light wiring. Then the actuator was mounted in the engine compartment with a chain to the throttle, and that was it. Took me about 4 hours to install and worked perfectly.

I see these NOS kits on ebay, and they sell for $50-$100 or so. If you don't care about originality one of these might just fit the bill for you.

A friend of mine installed a CC using a only OEM parts. He put some time into it and managed to find more or less all the parts needed second hand. Then it was plug & play because the wiring loom is already there for the CC.

I have a cruise control from a 993 1996 that I'll sell you if it will work. Not sure if it will. I can check the part number. It might be a 964 part number anyway. Let me know. It's factory. I should also be able to provide the wiring harness.

I think it will work it's actually a 911 part number so they've probably been using this for a long time.
