It sounds like you have found the perfect car! Good luck with it, and I'll bet you have a perm-a-grin from ear to ear after your first drive! Let us know how it all works out! Cheers! PS...the interior doesn't look too bad...drivers seat mainly...no biggie!

RS4's are great and v impressive engineering.. 911's are huge entertainment!
do you still have the

1989 E30 M3 Track Car

if so, do you think that makes a better track car than the 964?

i like the E30s too.

Don’t kid yourself,... beater 964s can still commend a respectable price tag. It is not uncommon to find these types of car as roller without engine and tranny for over $12K. I am actually looking for a roller right now for a project car and I can attest that finding a good one (MT-non Convertible) is very difficult for under $12,000. I am also located on the east coast and most of what I've found are either tiptronic or complete basket case.

based on what all these other guys are saying i would be a fool to buy a beater for 12K say.

how much would you pay for this one...the ppi is getting done today and i have a deposit on it already.

this does run and drive...but no doubt needs some love...

i like the E30s too.

i still have them all. the two arent comparable in my opinion. Driving style is 100% different. Learning how to master driving a e30 around a track is far easier than a 911. Both are amazing but very different experiences. I track E30's more than my 911s at the moment as i can drive them at 100%. Im able to drive a 911 at 70% but requires more skill and determination to learn.. Its an ongoing project for me. It really does sound like u should drive a few 911's before u pull the trigger. On the track i would say a Cayman is a closer relative to an E30 just from weight balance. Also decide if you want to just do casual track days or proper SCCA race series etc.

Yeah i havent seen too many good examples under 20k offered. Not sure what level they are actually selling at tho. Porsche asking prices have really got a little unrealistic in the past 6 months for certain cars IMO. I can understand some being sought after but 80k for a '93 RSA with 15k seems silly considering how close they are to C2's. 31k for a '91 targa with 105k miles.. despite a top end rebuild id rather spend 20k and do the work myself.

any luck with the search swesna?

Truth is that no matter how many PPI test you perform you can think you got a great car only to have a headstud go bang the first week of ownership... sh?** happens just be sure to have some budget for out of the norm fixes... and that budget should be in the 5-10K range... and don't aske me how I know cause I don't want to think anymore about it...

my budget is 20K to get the car to street/DE

not sweating the money and not afraid to do a lot of the work myself or with a friend

yes, I am picking up the car tomorrow.

then spend the weekend examining it further and taking plenty of pics to post up

then going to ask Rennlisters...what should I tackle first on the car once we have an idea of where it really stands.
