Flexible heat exchanger couplings- non OEM?
Hiyas! My heat exchanger couplings (the orange ones under the car, 964 211 339 00) have perished. Pelican wants $32 apiece for them...
Has anyone found a less expensive alternative?
TIA!

Others have mentioned this in 3" diameter as a reasonable substitute for those pieces.

What Feral is referring to is the orange tubes that connect the heat exchangers to the crossover pieces at the rear of the car. I remember someone mentioning they used intercooler couplings or something like that. I can't remember and I can't find the thread either. Hmm...

Yeah, the flexible orange couplings to the crossover. Intercooler tubing would probably work great if I knew what size to order; I'll have to pull one if no one can tell me before that

Yes, this stuff works perfectly...

and I think i went with the 3"... but you have lots of choices so measure for yourself. You end up with a long length, but per foot its a lot cheaper, and you can use the leftovers for 'friends' or for the internal heater hoses (when you have to remove the airbox for some reason).
The only thing is to be a little careful about the wire inside unraveling when you cut the tubing. Tuck it inside or it will come out pretty quickly like the snakes in a can of 'peanuts' that your grandpa used to have.

I did the sceet ones from aircraft spruce. I let who I talked to know that I needed 14 inches and they sent me one that was 18 and another that was 21 inches. 3 inch diameter. I think the price for is 25.00 and about 12 dollars shipping. Had heat for about ten minutes til other issues occurred. as did some more this morning. ughhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!

You Aircraft Spruce advocates- are you sure we're talking about the same parts? The parts I'm looking for are near the rear, under the car, and connect the manifold-shrouding heat exhangers to the crossover pipe that's just forward of the primary muffler.
I think you're talking about the tubes that mate the heat exchangers to the sill tubes which carry heated air to the cabin, and/or the ones that mate the sill tubes to the HVAC suitcase.

I finally found the thread I was thinking about. I believe the poster in this thread is talking about the same hoses you're asking about.
