Early fall tour - Skyline Drive (pics)
My mother is moving from Wash. D.C. to Florida next week, so I took advantage of her proximity to Skyline Drive to see her one last time up north. As a bonus, my 9 year old son came along (he took some of these car pictures) so he could spend the day being "spoiled by grandma" while I rode my bike on Skyline. We returned the next day to drive the whole route, taking the LONG way home. What a day
So with bike packed in the back seat, off we went on a great road trip together. We drove over 800 miles this weekend, and the car was perfect...I love these seats!
Speaking of mothers...this Merc was being driven by the original owner's son. The gentleman was driving his mother's car up to Pennsylvania from Florida!
Don't see too many of these either!
I love the angles of these roads!
Of course there was time for a couple hiking trails too.

They are Martini stripes from a friends car.
One of my "Porsche Brothers" had to remove the vinyl strip when repairing a dent in the cowl. It seemed natural to give my car a little bit of Martini color, since these two car have chased each other up and down many mountains together. Good times
Plus I was hoping some of that RSR magic would rub off on the 64.
Well that didn't work out....
With these guys, it's just another opportunity to do another mod.

The HIDs completely modernized night driving for me. Compared to my old H5s, with HIDs I could take advantage of the desolate night roads.
Unfortunately, I was only the 964 test dummy, so the lights when back.
Ask Laker, he just installed his lights.

Man, I wish I had known you were up here! I live about 45 minutes from Front Royal VA (northern terminus of skyline drive) and was about 15 minutes away on Sunday picking apples at Stribling Orchard in Markham. Perfect weather for a drive this weekend too. I need to make it up there this year.

I'm sorry we missed that opportunity, it would have been a lot of fun playing with two (or more) 964s on the Skyline. Future East Coast Rennlist Fall Fun Run???
So others know, there are 74 overlook stops (like in some of the pictures) in the 100 mile stretch. Photo opportunities around almost every corner.
I'll definitely send you a note the next time I'm in the area. I'm sure you know some great side roads!
