Default Air Duct

Anyone have to replace the air duct soft plastic thing that sits ontop of the alternator housing that feeds forced air into the distributor belt vent kit? The top of mine split and fell off Now I can just feel the ozone eating my dizzy belt everytime I crank the engine

964-106-403-02 - air duct, page 52 in the 964 USA parts catalog.

I had mine pasted together with gorilla tape and that held up all summer, but at last it gave up and lopped off it's head lol.

I replaced mine a few years ago. It had split and was "leaking" cooling air. It was an easy think to change.

One additional thought, if yours is torn be sure to confirm your heater blower fit. If you have a 993 heater blower, then you need to do the spacer modification described in Adrian's book. Without the mod, the blower won't fit right and people have a tendency to pull hard on the flexible rubber trying to get it to fit.

I have no heater blower or bypass tube to worry about. Just an aluminum plate that hooks two hoses to the tail light and dizzy housing.

Rob, where did you purchase this part? New or from a salvage yard?

Rocket Rob,

I have gone through Adrians book but can't find this mod you refer to. I replaced mine a while back but cant get it to stay on, it's close but wont quite reach. Wondering if this is my issue?

Its on page 475-476. If memory serves, you need to shorten the spacer bushings by 6 mm.

Luke at Sunset told me he sent out 3 or 4 the other day and I might have grabbed the last one in their stock lol. Guess a few rennlisters have been putting up with the same issue as of late.
