As said, if people are going to go on lots of weight saving, everything counts (including the driver's diet ) but the blower bypass only saves 3 Kg (actually 6.5 lb according to my weights table). Few if any will be able to tell the difference when they make this one change.

++ it will make your engine bay look faster! There's no rhyme or reason in owning an expensive 20 year old car, neither is there in saving a few kilos. But its FUN!

Heater bypass tube also gets that big lump of a blower out of the way, so that you can reach things like the O2 sensor plug and spark plug wires more easily

So true... and as far as heat is concerned, in Colorado I get so much heat in the cabin I have to turn it to down. Can't imagine needing an additional blower.

I simply hate useless things, and that blower is very close to useless. Plus, and much more important, I dodn't like the idea of having those very hot resistors in my engine-bay...

In my opinion, rather than being usefull in cold climate to help the heater, I see it more usefull in very hot climate to help the engine cool down when you turn it off.

The mod never appealed to me either steve, but after speaking to a few 964 owners it made sense.

Ive been told it only loose heat when at idle, when driving the main fan provides loads of air!

You will find it hard to find a Rs with the blower motor, they all have the bypass.

I cant tell you how well it works or not, till i get the new rubber part from the stealers.

Fitted tube with new rubber boot thing, and as expected the blower wont respond when the dial is moved and the "i" button was glowing!
So need to make up the simple wire trick to con the ecu.

Hi Russ, I follow you and order a pipe, I just received it this morning, and done it all ...
for those who are looking for one it was 134 € + shipping...

here is the link, the shop is in France ...

http://www.rosepassion.com/fr/cat/po...eur-soufflerie

It was very difficult to fit the pipe, it seams that the angle at the top is not right... I have a new boot, I am wondering if the new boots are not different to the original one ,

as mention by Babalouie & Anto I took the 30 amp fuse & relay, fitted the wire with a 15 am fuse witch I placed inside the fuse box, wire it to the coil .
wrap all the useless wires, protect them and attached them so they don't rattle .... Start the car, all the front fans and AC are working find,
(my car is manufactured in 92)

total weigh saved 3 kg to fit the pipe and 3 kg from the blower= 6kg

took pictures with my Iphone but I can't load them sorry !

Difficult to fit?
Mine went straight in, the new rubber is a little tight, keeps trying to come back out.
But not that bad.
Havent had time to make up bypass wire, struggle to remove cover off coil. Is there a secret way?

I know it took me a bit of time, it's clipped, so once you unclip it just pull it a part and pull it up hard !

Sor finger ....

You don't need to. This is all you have to do:

1.5 mm2 copper. I took that because it's fitting well in the blade connectors and it was lying around on my desk.
0.1 mm2 would do since in that configuration, it only feeds an input of the Climate/Temperature control Unit.
A good idea would be to replace that green 30A (bottom left) fuse with a 1A: quicker protection in case of short circuit.
