I am finally getting to the rust repair phase of Shrek. It has had these 2 nasty rust spots on the left front fender since I got it, and they have surprisingly not grown much over 2 winters. However, now that he rest of the car is up to good condition, I can tackle the cosmetics.
I had this front lid in storage since forever. Kind of looks good, in a fruit punch kind of way(?).

Done.
I prepared for the body shop, which was a good thing, seeing I had to dremel off a few of the fender-to-bumper screws.
Surprisingly, the rust did not perforate at all, so the repair was more straightforward than first thought. It is a good testimony of the build quality of these cars. 6 years in a field, 2 full winters driven daily on these scabs and the sheetmetal did not lose the battle to rust.
New lid is rust-free and straight, and has no gravel Schutz underneath. The new trunk seal is so thick, I have a hard time closing the lid, even after adjusting the latch all the way up.

Only the left front fender and lid. Doors have about 5 layers of paint, front bumper is rather ugly. I will tackle the rest as my toy budget allows. Now there is a rather nasty bubble that has popped up on the LR fender where the previous body shop filled a dent with bondo rather than pull it out...
The car is mechanically excellent now, the body work may not be too nice , but it is getting close to rust-free.
