Not on the inside, the aperture is the same from 1965 to 93

All 911,s (air cooled) have the same body shell.
You can fit a 1970 911 screen into a 993 if you wanted.
Ive got a 993 screen in my 964.
One day ill fit 993 rear screen in my car as well.

I think its an easy retrofit, remove old screen have paint tidyed up.
Fit new inner trim, glue new 993 screen in.
Easy......

Is it DIY?

Yes and no, i can do it myself. Need glue primers ect;

Very nice. Did you have trouble with the inner trim fitting properly with the headliner, etc?
Would you have a photo to show the difference from the 964?

This is a nice modification as it allows a smoother outer seal. I plan to do it myself with the next windshield. The bonding also contributes to stiffening the body a bit overall as it fixes the greenhouse more securely. Have you had squeaking/creaking with body flex?

Seems like the main benefit would be the guaranteed exclusion of water, no? The bottom of the A-pillars is one of the few places these cars seem to rust, so preventing that would be a real bonus.

Screen fits well, flush fit looks nice. And yeah reduces the chance of water ingress.
But they still rust, theres many 993,s with rusty apertures.
Theres no issues with the head lining, 993 trim covers this.

Creaking!
All 993 screens creak.

I think its due to porsche useing a glue that is more rigid than the aftermarket glue.

The corrosion is an installation issue... Both models 964 and 993 have their windshield glued in place. And they both can experience the creaking but the 993 is doubly affected because of an extra gap around the seal that gives installers lots of problems. There is also the windshield size increase when moving to the 993 style. Whether or not that has any effect on anything I couldn't tell you but they are not the same size.

The creaking is a complete and total PITA. After the 2nd or 3rd time back for repair, the installer will likely remove the windshield and risk completely destroying it (BTDT and I have the t-shirt).
