Default Interior light and cLock

Hola,

I have managed to screw up my interior light somehow, I took the housing out and on the way out something blew, not sure what tho.

I checked fuse number 11 which is interior light and clock.

So

Fuse was fine and clock still working, I've noticed that the clock has since started to go a bit slow. Are there any relays that would cause this.

Doing my head in royally........

I haven't replaced the fuse as I assume that if the clocks working to a degree then it should be fine.

Help appreciated.

David

The interior lights are pretty simple, although I do admit that at first it looks like there are wires appearing and disappearing from everywhere. My guess is that you've now got a live wire shorting to the body.

Prise each of them out by firmly pulling only on the side nearest the front of the car. Once dangling from the roof, check the live wires (red) to make sure they're not making direct contact with the body or an earth wire (brown).

Good man, that's what I had thought too but couldn't see anything touching.

I'll double check it tonight.

Give me somewhere to start looking.

Cheers

Check all your fuses. I can't remember which one it was now (it wasn't the one for the clock) blow and the clock only worked with the ignition on, giving the impression it was losing time!

Gents,

got it today, i pulled the light out and noticed two wires were just touching and no more.

I then fixed that part and took the fuse out, fuse looked fine and not blown.

tried it and it wouldnt work.

so i took another fuse out to test and bingo it worked.

fuse must have been blown but not showing it.

Thanks again.

oh just before i go. there are three positions in the light switch. i assume that one of them is for when the car door is open. it seems that this doesnt work and when they are put in the on position and door open position they are on all the time. im not that fussed about it and can live with that.

thanks for the help.

Check to see that the plunger switch in the door jamb is not stuck.

In addition to causing the interior lights to not operate, it can also kill your battery since the car keep feeding currrent to the power windows until it detects you exited the car.

Should've used the fuse tester in the fusebox!

Next to the "53" relay at top right of pic. Has "TEST" (upside down) on it and has the green LED.

In the door open position (courtesy position) the lights will stay on for approx 30 seconds after you close the door and then slowly go out.
