It seems like the car was sold new in Japan, and it is possible that it was delivered like this, hopefully I will find out soon...

A C00 clubsport with no cage delivered new to Japan......... is it by any chance White?

Actually it's not white but I think I know the car you mean. I do have a couple of N-GTs on the database that were delivered directly to Japan. One has a Factory cage and one doesn't but they both have some carpet (not complete set) and leather seats. Also, I quite often find on the Japanese cars that they have the 'VIN plate delete' option.
