Differences between '95 993 intake and 964's with plastic intakes?

I have read this post and others. I am still not certain that the plastic intake is interchangeable?
I have a 964 engine, was going to swap the complete intake system and ECU from a 993 engine. However, after talking to Steve Wong, it does not look like there is really that much to gain.
Should I swap the 964 aluminum intake for the plastic one? Or, is this another not really worth it? They look like they will line up, but has anyone done this using the 964 ECU?
One fitting is a different size, and the base of the intake may be slightly different, but not sure.
