LONDON 964 OWNERS - Meets

Sorry to go off topic but I have a stupid question if you guys will indulge me.
I am getting used to the concept of not having a garage while I live in the greater London area. I realize the car is going to get dirty since its exposed to the elements but I would like to treat the paint to a little TLC every now and again. I have taken the car to a couple local hand washes but have not been impressed and it is hard for me to turn my car over to someone else.
So, do people who live in areas of 'attached' houses, without garages, and mostly on-street parking ever wash their cars in the street? I do have a hose connection on the front of my house, so it would be easy enough to do. I can't find anything on the council website saying its illegal. There are some nice and consistently clean cars on my street but I have never seen them being washed at home. Illegal, frowned upon, or will people look at me like I'm crazy? What say you

I'm in central London - right in the thick of it. I used to wash my car with a hose right on street, no problem. Sadly now I live in a place where I don't have access to a hose. So I take my car to a crappy car wash, they keep my suds, mitts etc and I've shown them how I like it done. Suffice to say I get a hand car wash I approve of for £8. After I'll take it home and do the waxing/ final prep kinda stuff - when bothered.
Important to use a PH neutral shampoo that's nice and slimy - less friction. Use a spray on wax to get rid of water marks. A nice soft mitt for washing and a micro fibre towel for drying and another for applying/ removing spray & soft wax. Oh and if you can, two bucket method. Meguire's products get my vote, easyily found at Halfords.
I felt like a ****** the first time I showed up with my own stuff, but a year later they sussed out I'm a special kind of nutter.

Three Wheelin'
Sealant (& wax to some extent) make washing that much easier too. I use a petrol station that has self service jet washing car bays (along with my own bucket, mitt & shampoo).

Wasn't sure if self service washes were available here, haven't seen one yet. Definitely a good idea for when the weather gets colder, will have to be on the lookout.

I promised myself I'd go to the next meet being that I've been so lax in coming along. But we're camping that weekend (have to treat the splitty to some summer air). So hopefully the next one...
