If it is the case that it fell out during assy , it has been out since the thing was put together ?
If that is the case , its been running / working for many many years without the pin in place without getting two gears and blowing up .

Is there any chance that the pin could get free from its "home" after assy ?

Yes, we've got many odd things, maybe the worst politics in the all world, but, believe me, Abruzzo is a truely special place to live!
I was in Italy in the late 80s . And you guys do not have the worst politics . Somalia , Sudan ?

This is interesting. I found the same pin attached to my drain plug 4 years ago. To my knowledge the car has never had the gearbox open.

What all is involved in repairing this?

If the pin is the only pin of its type inside the case and the transmission is fine without it , why repair it ?
If it was the pin that "got away" and was replaced ,
there is no need to replace it .

Until these transaxles are opened up for a look see
it may remain a mystery .

I want to find a transaxle that is apart and play with it .

HI Anto,

YGPM. My car has been driving fine, but finding out what the pin is from has me a little worried now.

Let us know what else you find out,
Good Luck,
James
