Default Oil drip near the front of the right rear wheel well

I noticed this when I got home from work. I did a search and will drive my 65 F250 tomorrow and pull the wheel tomorrow night.

Anyone have a good picture of what I'm looking for or will it be evident where the leak is.

I have to change the oil this weekend. Guess I've got some investigating to do. Always something.

How much are all of the OEM hoses?

How big of a job is it to replace all of them. Sounds like a project worth doing.

all of them? probably a couple thousand dollars. There is a bunch of them and would be a major undertaking. There is somewhere in the neighborhood of 25 oil lines and hoses that stretch from the front of the car to the rear and all throughout the engine bay. You probably just want to stick with any bad ones.

How big of a leak? How much accumulation on the ground?

Hold off on the oil change, since replacing any of those hoses will require you to drain all the oil.

Remove the shark fin and side skirt. Youll probably find an oil mess back there. Degrease and pressure wash that whole thermostat area clean. Keep driving the car w/o the body pieces and check for leaks.

I'm currently doing the exact same thing tracking down a leak that showed up after racing the car a couple weekends ago.*

Chances are I'll end up replacing a bunch of the hoses too.

This Pelican thread has great pics of the area.

Often it is a result of people over tightening or reusing the crush washer on the tank drain plug, but hoses and t stat leaks happen too.

The big hose that goes from the oil filter console to the top of the thermostat is one that likes to leak with age. It is a cloth braided hose with two swaged ends that usually leak at the swage. It's cheaper to just have a new hose made with the old ends. Elephant Racing did mine for around $100 with shipping and the hose they use is much better that the factory stuff. The factory piece of crap hose is about $400.

I had same type of leak, it was the clamp on the tank to tstat hose, replaced it with BMW manufactured clamp and no more leak...the BMW clamps dont cut into the hose like the normal ones do

Most of the German clamps wont. I use Zebra clamps.

Here's a link to some more thermostat pictures, and pictures of the sils and all the clips removed.
I'd order all new clips and orange plugs. Also order new rubber slip strips if they have shrunk on you...
Good luck Mike!

I had this exact same leak which started last summer. I drove with it for a while, just kept topping the oil to the point where it was just too much. Got it repaired this spring and yes, it was about 2G's to replace everything.

AWESOME pictures, thanks!

What's the best place to get the clips and rubber? Is aftermarket as good as OEM?

Checkout Rennlist's vendor page: https://rennlist.com/forums/vendor_directory.php

I got mine from Pelican (no affiliation).

Use this handy parts diagram to see the individual parts and find the part #'s:
