I just finished a carpet replacement project (more to come on that) and now the seats look really ugly compared to the rest of the interior.

The car is used a daily driver - no track use ever - and I am looking for comfort over weight loss (they are heavy though and my back still hurts after lifting them in and out of the car a few times).

Should I reupholster / recover or find a new (used) pair? The seat foam on the drivers side is worn and partially collapsed.

What's a good source for new or used seats apart from the usual suspects like dcautomotive et. al.?

DC Auto has a 90 warranty on their parts. I'm looking for a set for my 944 turbo. The foam on my 944 turbo seats is totally FUBAR. I think they wanted something like $750 for a set of seats.

Not sure what color your interior is, but if it's black maybe you could source a set of RS America seats. They are sportyish, and basically covered in black carpet.
