tell me about advantages and disadvantages of different model year tiptronics.
My dad is in the market for a 964 or 993 with a tiptronic and wanted to know fi there are certain years to avoid. He is going to want a car that is well sorted so no projects just a very nice car ready to drive. educate me on the 964 tips

No huge difference of tiptronic within the whole production period of 964. A display update on seems 1992. Gauges will display the running gear (1, 2, 3...) when using D mode. Before 1992, the running gear display only light up on +- manual mode. Didn't heard any production year of tiptronic required to avoid. The gear box itself is very reliable and durable. Usually got problems are the associate sensor.

thanks he just sold his 356 and is looking for a more modern safer car that he does not have to shift so he is thinking 964 or 993 but we have to find the right car.
