POLL: How many of use use the 964 as a daily driver
I have been using my 964 for the past two years as my daily driver although I only go out three times a week.
I am retired and have the time to do most of the repairs but am finding that I am spending alot of time on the car (I am also OCD and need everything right as can be)
Having just cured the abs light issue I am thinking I need a second car (especially if I have to get parts or something while the P car is disassembled) !!!
So the question is how many of us use the 964 as primary (ONLY SOURCE) of motorized transportation?
I forgot a variable...I live alone... so those of you who have a significant other..dont count that car!

I must have misunderstood the question, " Is your 964 your only source of transportation" when I answered. I answered no based on the "only source" portion of the question not if it my DD or not. Change me to Yes. I drive my 964 at least 5 days a week if not more, over 90,000 miles in 8 years.

When there isn't road salt on the ground, I drive my 964's as my daily drivers. However, I put them away for winter hibernation during the "bad season".
Edit: When I lived in California, my 964 was my sole car. That's how my cab got to 230K miles.

I was driving it daily for several months through late summer and fall. I've got another car to fall back on (a super reliable Toyota), so I've been driving that the past 2 months my car has been on jackstands.

i used my 964 C4 as a DD for 2 winter seasons at every condition. and it made a hell lot of fun!!
i love my porsches, care them a lot but finally they were designed for everyday use and a don't belive in garage queen cars with 500 miles/year. Porsche is for drive and joy, regardless the season.

I think it is very possible to daily drive a 964, however it will be very difficult and costly to make it your sole transportation.*
I say that because these cars need upkeep and repairs that require somewhat significant downtime, so unless you're retired and can dedicate yourself to the car at a moment's notice, you're likely gonna get caught out w/o transportation from time to time.*
The expensive part is because I assume that the description above doesn't apply to most owners (i.e. we have other things to do, full-time jobs, etc.), therefore, when we take on these projects we may only be able to get in work on the car during nights and weekends if we're lucky. This means projects stretch on for awhile. As a result, if it is your only transportation, it is likely that you'd have to engage the services of a dealership or independent mechanic to get the car back in service quickly, and that will get expensive fast.*

+1 especially on the dealer...I think I know more about the 964 then they do..In fact I am certain of it..Dealer here told me I could not possibly put new style tail lights on my kids Range Rover HSE..and they were plainly on the vehicle (Its the Same dealer for Porsche, Cadillac, Audi, Range Rover, BMW)
I definitely wouldnt own it if I couldnt wrench it myself!!

My wife goes crazy when they need to keep her car overnight...meanwhile I make excuses for my mechanic when he needs to keep the car an extra week! "Let the artist do his work..."
My 964 is a daily driver (and my only car)...but
- I ride my bike to work almost everyday
- I have access to my wife's car
At the end of the day, my 964 is on-call at a moments notice. I treasure every drive, no matter how mundane.
Today I drove the kids to school...

I use mine as much as possible. Have a few other cars for moving stuff/people/dog around.
Not using it at the minute though as I'm reprinting it. Desperately miss it though.

I clicked 'no' because I only use mine about 50% of the time, which is about the most that is practical for me. With this mild winter, I've been enjoying more than I thought I would.

My cars are my hobby! If push came to shove I don't really need a car. I use a push bike for work, 16 miles round trip, (it has been 30 until we moved house, not that I wanted to reduce the distance to work in fact the contrary, I'm a fitness addict, so distance to cycle within reason isn't an issue). The 964 is my favored and weekend car so to speak. The family car is an e46 m3, because it can accommodate 4 adults comfortably, has good boot space and still has the performance. However, if I had to choose between the two the 964 would be the keeper without question. Even if that meant ditching the bike!!
