Hi, I purchased the scan tool adaptor from a fellow rennlister. The software is installed on a laptop using Windows 7. It does communicate with the climate control, alarm and air bag but it will not connect with motronic. It just continues to try to connect but will not. The lights do blink on the adaptor. I changed the file name from scantool_964_cfg to scantool.cfg so I think the software is now set up for a 964 and not a 993. Any ideas on what to check?
I did search this forum but couldn’t find a similar issue.

Try setting the software on Motronic and then starting the car. If the software communicate with the other systems then it is installed correctly.

Well per James’s suggestion I tried to connect in Motronic and started the engine and still no connection. Another thing I noticed is the check engine light flashed when trying to connect to Motronic. And it doesn’t flash when I shut down the software or connect to another system like climate control.

The first time I used the software I could not get it to connect to the SRS system. It was suggested that I set the software to SRS first and then start the car and this worked for me. Yesterday I hooked it up again and it worked fine, connecting without any issues.

Open up scantool.cfg with Notepad....does it start with

[Motronic]
address=16
baudRate=8800

Guys thanks for your responses. I was able to get it to work by deleting the software from ToreB’s website and installing the software from RicardoD’s. I was not able to get ToreB’s software to configure correctly (user error I know) but Ricardo’s has the 964 setup ready to go so I tried it and it works with no problems. I can now see the motronic display and also do an adaptation. I just want to thank ToreB and RecardoD for putting this system out there.

Believe the free software do not cycle ABS. Need access to Hammer or one of the clone softwares. More than welcome to use mine if you are close to me.
