Default Sorting out some little things on my new 964

There are some things I knew about that need to be addressed.

EDIT: FIXED Fix Cruise Control (going to check the pedal switches)

Fix OBC display in tach (I'm going to do a DME reset and install and new DME relay)

The clock only works when the car is running. But, fuse 12 has been pulled most likely because the OBC stayed lit when the car is shut off.

Remove the archaic radar detector.

I will also remove all non-stock wiring including the Lojack. I'm not going to pay them for a "$79 tune-up" because I don't want some hack digging around in my dashboard.

Install a new head unit
Kenwood KDCBT952 Kenwood KDCBT952

I left the maintenance records at the dealer in FL and just got them. The car now has 66k miles.

The last service done by the Porsche dealer in August and unlike the dumbass at the dealer told me the other day, the oil was changed with Mobile 1 (not Castrol 10W-30) BTW, I ordered Brad Penn 20w-50 that will be here tomorrow for an oil change this weekend.

In 2008 at 53,512 miles:
Replace Headlamp
Oil Service & Filter
Head Gasket Service
Transmission Flush
Total $2589

That is about all I have from the 2nd owner besides oil changes. He only had it serviced once a year before it was stored in the winter.

Any details on what the "head gasket service" consisted of? Invoiced amount seems low for an engine out, heads removed type job.

No additional information, but I plan to call the shop that did it.

The car doesn't drip a drop of oil, has a hair less than 5 bar over 3k-rpms, tight as a drum.

I had a similar description on a dealer invoice and got all excited that my cab had it done, then when I searched the parts used for the job, it came up as the valve cover gasket kit used for a valve adjustment

This thread might help with the head-unit install

I'll update the thread when I call them.

Nice thread on the install.

I think it's because fuse 12 isn't in the fusebox. Once I do the new DME relay and reset, it should workout the issue with the computer display which is why the fuse is pulled.

But yes, the car has Lojack, a built in radar detector, and a sophisticated sound system.

Check the plastic connector next to the throttle cable in the engine bay for the cruise control. That broke on mine and is quite common apparently.

Cruise Control is fixed. I pulled the mat, carpet, and floorboard and checked the clutch switch with my Fluke. There wasn't any continuity with the pedal in or out. I sprayed some contact cleaner and moved it several times and got it working. I made sure there was a solid connection when the clutch pedal was at rest and then took it for a test drive. BINGO, it worked.

Came home and put everything back together and went on a nice spirited drive with the top down.

I plan to order a switch and keep it in my toolbox in case it stops working in the future. Having a spare will ensure the one that is in there will work forever.
