you need all but the bottom cover - you definately dont want the bottom cover on cuz it traps alot of heat...and you end up with burnt valves...dont ask how I know...lol...

Really I would not have thought the need at all once the bottom cover was removed What purpose does it have? noise insulation? it cant effect cooling as the sheet metal does that job . Just curious what your thoughts are

Are they the side covers or the bottoms?

The sides you want to put back on the car so the exhuast doesn't cook the engine.

The bottom cover has been long debated.

Yes, it traps heat in.
Yes, it was part of the Euro noise abatement regulations.
Yes, it is an aero device.

You might want to show us a picture of what you are refering to.

Ok but the question remains why what really does it do? It cant effect cooling as I said sheet metal does that so What really does it do?

I already said why, it's a insulation - reflective heat buffer between the the engine and the exhaust.

The sheet metal was mainly for keeping the engine compartment clean.

The main purpose for 14 & 18 is to shield the plug wires from the secondary muffler on one side and the cat on the other side.

My car doesn't have the front shields 16 & 19. I do have 14 & 18 installed.

It appears the purpose of 16 & 19 is to shield the case/chain covers from primary muffler heat.

Anyone running without 16 & 19?
