Default Our 964 C4 - 993 Widebody Turbo S conversion - Wheels and Offset Question

Hello All,

Years ago, my dad did a conversion on his 1990 C4 using factory parts from Porsche to reshape it to a 993 Turbo S.

The current wheels on it suit it quite well, but i'm looking to possibly getting something with a little more dish and perhaps wider to completely fill out the guards.

I was wondering if anyone could shed some light on what offset and width would fit our Porsche very well.
The rear is currently a 18x10 with 285s, unsure of offset however. It is running a 20mm spacer though. The fronts I don't believe are running spacers.

edit:
Just a little extra, I've been told that the original 964 C4 was not widebody. Therefore has the narrow body axle width.
Would the kit that is on this car be wider than a 965 Turbo?

Pictures below:
This is the car after 4 years storage.

This is what was stamped on the back of a rear wheel:
18x10 - 15

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Thank you
Simon

Given that you have narrow body pickup points, do a search here using the terms 3.8RSR and wheels/ET, 3.8L RSR and ET or combinations thereof.

The same terms (or perhaps "narrow body") could also be used over in the 964 Turbo forum.

Have fun, nice car!!!

The car really suits those wheels!

Would it not be an option to split the wheels down (I presume that they are 3 piece) and have deeper dishes fitted?

I think they do too.
That is a possibility, i'll look into it

If anyone is reading, could you tell me if the US C4 was different to the Australian C4?
In this thread: https://rennlist.com/forums/964-foru...-widebody.html

They're saying that the 3.8 RS wheels won't fit.

In this thread, it states that the wheels were made to fit c2/c4 trailing arms.
But they were narrow body as standard, was the 964 3.8RSR wider than a widebody c2/c4?
https://rennlist.com/forums/964-foru...rsr-3-8-a.html

Just need a bit of clarification so I can start searching for 18x11 ET5 wheels

Another question though, were the fronts of a widebody any wider than the narrow bodys?

suggest you grab a tape measure, work out the clearances, then work out the perfect offset yourself ........

scale of difficulty ? thoughts ?

Hi Owgasm

The car looks great.

I think you'll be very limited in your choice of wheels because you'll need a very low ET. I suspect the '15' stamped on your current wheels refers to ET15 offset, which is very low (ie the wheel protrudes a lot, filling the arch).

Using narrow body trailing arms means that you will have to use a spacer, but if the wheels you like are for example ET45, you'll need a 50mm spacer just to keep the outer edge of the wheel in the same location as the current ET15 wheel and 20mm spacer combination. On the plus side you can run massive rear wheel widths with this set up.

Hi Owgasm, I have the exact same car and problem! 964 narrowbody to 993 widebody turbo s. I'm curious to see what the end solution was for you. I want the deepest dish possible and I'm thinking I'll need to have custom wheels made. I want a BBS LM style wheel with the widest lip possible front & back.

Years later I am still looking for wheels.
Just have not found the time to get everything off and do the proper measurements.

Just a quick bump to see if anyone has got some new wheels for their Widebody NB 911!

I suggest having them made to order. Tramont in France is an authorized manufacturer by Porsche to reproduce their Speedline wheel. Many in the 993 forum have custom ordered these wheels and all have been very satisfied with the product. Great quality and super pricing given the favorable exchange rate.
