I used to run -3.5deg camber on the front of my Integrale Evo which gave very nice and aggressive turn in.....

......the weight of the front mounted engine combined with 4wd made it very steady in a straight line as well, 265 km/h with one finger on the wheel.

The 911's lack of weight in the front seems to make straight line stability very sensitive to only very moderate levels of negative camber, the RS setting of a very moderate -1deg already gives a marked negative effect in high speed straight line stability compared to the 0deg standard setting.

I've found that the weight of a 964 C4 front differential and/or having 4wd alleviates such behaviour substantially, giving rock steady 285 km/h on lowered AP Car suspension whereas I found the RS (corner weighed, factory setting) to get very involving over 220 km/h.

Thanks for all the reply's
8ET50 vs 8.5ET40

using this ...
http://www.rimsntires.com/specs.jsp

8ET50
backspace = 165mm
frontspace = 203-165=38mm

8.5ET40
backspace = 161mm
frontspace = 216-161=55mm

compared to my 8ET50, your wheel will be 17mm further outwards and 4mm less clearance on the inside.

use this link and try to work out what will happen with the wheel 17mm further outwards.

https://rennlist.com/forums/964-foru...nd-photos.html

my thoughts ......
1. roll the lip on the fender (goes without saying)
2. make sure you have stiff springs around 400lbs+
3. around -3 deg neg camber
4. of course .. max caster ... goes without saying
5. worst case is a little fender flare rolling may be required

i think it will be fine with some tweaks

post some pics asap .. great stuff.

i used JIC Cross.

i reached -2 deg neg camber super-easy and had plenty more adjustment to go to make even more neg camber.

when you compare to my car, make sure you remember that I have 235 tyres and you have 205 tyres.

my specs above are wheels only, but your narrower tyres will help the situation.

i think your 8.5ET40 with 205 tyres will be perfect!

btw it would be a great reference if you can summarise the specs again for future reference as yours is near perfect and will be a good data point.

- wheels
- tyres
- camber
- castor
- ride height

can the rear go any lower? i think we could squeeze the height a little more lower in the rear?

were there any fitment probs?

Wow! It looks great but I would estimate that you are well below RS ride height in the front. How does your car drive on the street?

Look like Cargraphics? I too am going to be playing with some V3's soon on my 964 and some gold Cargraphics 18x10et52 18x8 et47, curious on your ride height specs? Love your stance and wheel choice!

you might like to see 8ET50 ...

https://rennlist.com/forums/964-foru...nd-photos.html

and 10ET40 ....

https://rennlist.com/forums/964-foru...40-photos.html

wow .. 10ET52 .. 12mm further inwards compared to my car ... that is going to be super-close to the (a) suspension arm and (b) inside wheel well .. you might need to positive camber to make that work!

- wheels: cargraphic 8,5x18 et 40 & 10,5x18 et 52 +6mm spacer in the back(rubbing inside the wheelarch)
- tyres: yokohama S-drives: 205/40 front, 245/35 rear
- camber: Not yet aligned it, still searching a bit
- castor: Not yet aligned it, still searching a bit
- ride height: KW V3 but don't really know how low, how do you guys measure?

The ride is a bit bumpy at the moment but I need to have my front wheel arches rolled back more, going to put a little more camber at the front to see if I can set the suspension softer. and perhaps get a tiny bit lower :-D

More questions just shoot
