Silly(?) question: intensive washer

In Shrek there is the optional intensive washer, with the small bottle on the right trunk wall, that says "use only intensive washer fluid,...."
The local dealer says NLA. The local BMW dealer (my Beemer had an intensive washer as well) says NLA.
What do I put in that bottle? Is the extra cleaning power due to the fluid itself, or is the pump a special high pressure unit?

When I first bought my car the dealer had it filled with the intensive fluid. I used it all up thinking it was the main wash wipe for the car. Doh! ![Frown](https://rennlist.com/forums/images/smilies/frown.gif)
I dont recall it being that great and didnt shift the bugs off the windcreen like I think its supposed to do.
Never have got round to buying any more for it!

John,
agreed. That answers the first question.
Now for the second: is there any specific product to use in there? the BMW fluid (now NLA) was pretty good at dissolving squashed bugs.

I read somewhere on a previous post the "intensive" washer fluid is notorius for mineralizing and stopping up the jets. I believe, if memory serves correctly, that standard washer fluid was best.

Good to know. That migh explain the calcium...mine I have in my tubing and jets. Those have replacements waiting to be put in already. Guess it is a redundant setup then. Too bad, I kind of want it to work as it should, but don't want to have clogging problems.

I have read that using the intensive washer is not a good idea as, if it leaks, it drips right into your very pricey ABS control unit. ![EEK!](https://rennlist.com/forums/images/smilies/eek.gif)

Marc,
Very true. It is one of the 2 main reasons for relocating the ABS brain. the other is rain water following the wiring loom into the connector and corroding it away.

I've always thought that I'd put a RainX (no affiliation) product in the intensive washer and use it to treat my windshield now and then to a rainx wash.
I've never done it, but it seems like a good use for that silly thing!
