1994 Speedster OEM Radio Unit Q
Guys - I will post this on the For Sale Wanted Board also.
As you may see from my other posts I am new at this - I want to replace the aftermarket (extremely expensive but Garish IMO) Flip Front System in the recently purchased Speedster with a stock unit.
The car was delivered with an option 321 Radio Porsche CR-22 as far as I can tell - but frankly I am happy to fit it with any 1994 Optional unit (not sure if the CDR units were options for US bound cars in 1994 for example).
Can someone point me in the right direction for validating what options were available for cars shipped to the USA and any advice on purchasing a 1994 optioned unit - if not the CR-22 then another shipped 1994 option.
I have searched the normal channels like eBay and can see some mainly CDR units but I think they came after 1994.
Thanks y'all

Are you sure that it's not option M331, rather than M321?
M331 is the Porsche CR-1 cassette deck, which AFAIK was the main unit supplied with '94 US Speedsters.
The only CD options fitted to US 964s were the Porsche CD-2 (early) and CD-10 (later).
The Porsche CR/CD-21 units came in with the 993s and had 993 part numbers, and the CR/CD-22 units with the 996s, and had 996 part numbers.
Of course, I am happy to be proven wrong

Thanks guys for the info - I guess it could have been shipped with a CR-1 - I have an invoice from 1996 with a repair line item to a CR-22 so he either asked for this as an option or had it fitted between his car purchase in 1994 and this Jan 1996 invoice. There is another air cooled speedster on the board here also with a CR-21 that was shipped new so I am now officially confoosed!
What I do know as you will see from other past threads on here about this particular car is they spent a lot of money on add ons before it left Germany - so if the CR-22 was available in 1994 it feels like that it was what it was shipped with.
Anyway - if anyone has a 1994 Speedster from 1994 and can chip in I would appreciate it.

BTW - I am also sensitive to the pictures protocol for newbies and want to make sure the lack of pics so far are not inhibiting responses.
My little beauty arrived this last weekend and it seems like Seattle is the only place in the lower 48 that is not in a heatwave and at my 1600 ft home I actually and 2-3 inches of snow this weekend.
Soon as I get some dry weather (and maybe even sun) I will have this little baby out for its e-test and gets some pics that can be posted. I am on the road again this Saturday so it may take some time but I will be posting lots of pics to the board when I get the chance.

It's been beautiful Porsche weather here in Virginia for about 3 weeks (well actually it has been all winter, but I mean temperature wise now), but my 964 is in pieces...oh, the irony!

Not the best picture, but this shows the factory cassette deck in a 94 Speedster... When I return home from my business trip (Friday), I'll get you the model number...

That's the same radio my Speedster has. Technically, the Speedsters were built in 1993 so maybe a little early for CD

Blake, you have a CR-1 radio, originally fitted on my 1993 C2 as well, option code M331.
Dave, check this link:
https://rennlist.com/forums/964-foru...cdr-220-a.html
Apparently as per C24Fun the CR-210 and CDR-210 (cassette and CD versions respectively) were used in the 1994 964 Speedster.

Guys - brilliant - thanks for the help so far.
Here is what we seem to be getting to - feel free to correct me - the collective knowledge and bouncing this seems to be the best route until we get an definitive answer.
Factory Standard was CR-1, at least for the later RS VINs there seems to be a number of sources that are saying the CR-210 and CDR-210 were available as options - at least on the later shipped US models.
Now - who can stop the snow and rain in Seattle area so i can go out and play

What did you decide to do about the head unit?
On a different note, the Strosek look is yet to grow on me, but the I'm sure it's a different story seeing it up close, it must have quite a street presence. Have you had much of a chance to get out and about in her? What's been the reaction?
