Autozone sale on VR1

Well when I arrived at the local Autozone / Sears Hardware strip mall, I parked next to a nice 1969T with 120k miles. I snapped a picture and went in. I came out and he was snapping a quick phone picture. Real nice guy, but aren't we all.

Hmm... punched in my zip code (California), then proceeded to order 36qts online with free shipping at $3.29 a quart. It took my order. Hopes this works. Fantastic deal. I'm normally paying $90 for a case (12 qts) of Brad Penn.

Nice!
Did you get a $15 AutoZone gift card too for ordering > $100?
You're changing for two now

Yup, forgot about that, + $15 gift card! Great deal. Think I should have order 48 qts or more!

Stuff I ordered is the Dino Oil. Trusting the board on this one that's its good for my car. Of course I extended the same trust by using Brad Penn as well.

I used BP for several years (partial syn). Locally the availability of BP ended so I moved to VR1. Frequent oil changes and the proper levels of ZDDP are the key not necessarily the brand.

Funny, the only brush-off I've had from an aircooled 911 owner came from a guy in a very nice original-looking 1968T.
He was following me across town for about 2 miles and then ended up in the next lane over at a stoplight. I rolled down the window a bit and gave a wave and said "hey" or something, expecting to exchange a few pleasantries. The guy gave one sideline glance at my 964, put a sneer on his face, looked straight ahead, and then floored it when the light turned green.
Not sure what that was about... I guess he thought my non-functional wing vent and integrated bumpers make me a 911 poseur?
I saw absolutely no reason to race him off that stoplight, but I think the old lady in the Camry behind me could have kicked his ***.
