Default First Post [red targa 1990]

Hi, all, i'm reading this forum for quite a while and decided to finally do my first post, telling a bit about myself and my car.

So i'm in belgium, and bought a '90 964 targa indian red with 128k km on the counter in june 2011, dreaming about a 911 for years, and searching for what was in my budget, and what sounded / looked nice, i'm not a big fan of 996, so went for 964, altough i knew i might have so pretty nice cost down the road if something went wrong.

I enjoyed the first weeks before finding some loss of power, basically, the engine simply stopped firing whether i was at WOT or with throttle closed + the car allready done quite a few km with me, so needed to drop it for a 140 K maintenance in september.

The plan in september was to do the maintenance (big one), and address the known problems :
* Accelleration Holes
* Noise in the ventillation grilles at legal speed limit on highway (really, from 100 kmph to 130)
* Battery draining in 3 days
* Spoiler not closing properly after a flooding problem (5 days before the sheduled maintenance)
* and had problem with transmission, 1 and 2 gear hard to get in when car is really hot
* Alarm going of when it wants, this was due to a relay to stop the rear blower from blowing when the car was shut down, i removed this **** and used the normal path, no more alarm problem
* The thermal sensor seems shooted, so the rear blower was going on for 20 minutes everytime i stopped the car, this helped with battery drainage

That was about it on what was planned... Got to the opc, because of the electronic problem, the independant seems not able to help a lot.

Things that were fixed were unrelated to the list.
So the maintenance was done, along with DMF and clutch, the thermal sensors, the bearring and ujoints rubber they solved the ventillation grille noise, and that was basically all.

The speech was that everything was fine, blabla bla. (got my car back on 3rd of october 2011) and they called me a first time on the morning to say everything is ok and a second time to tell me there's a problem with the spoiler, so not sure they even take a look at the issue list

Two days later, the accelleration hole were back, and then i was pretty sure they did things to the car, but not what i asked for, the next spot to solve my problem were at the end of december, i then planned a 3 of january drop of my car there. the accelleration hole were at a moment that bad that while driving with my girlfriend from tours in france back to brussels on small roads, we were unable to catch a tractor running at 30kmph max.

So, finally, i dropped my car on january to address the battery draining (not solved either), the accelleration holes, change the front windshield (lots of micro impact, hard to drive with low sun) and find if it's possible to address the rear windshield defrost problem (got only 2 lines left) and address the front windshield small rust post on the driver side

And, then i slipped, Things for now are
* Front and rear windshield replaced
* Rust on the front windshield was perforating, so replace both side
* Complete respray, and
* Mass airflow meter replaced
* Alternator seemed instable and was not charging the battery correctly, replaced
* replaced the locks all round, i had 2 keys, one for starting the car another for opening other locks, so i'm more confident with a new set. (and it's more confortable)

This car is my daily car, i'm still waiting she comes back (riding a starlet for now, not exactly the same feeling). She's getting the end of the Repaint for now.

So, here is some carporn as expected :

One thing specifically catched my eyes :

they painted (and if you can confirm it) clearcoated the targa bar, i called immediately and was told "it's normal and is only the first layer to get the satin black finish we need some matter, and we use the car color to do it"

I'm quite disappointed being taken for such a morron, and only asked confirmation the bar will have the original finish.

Thanks for you reading
