Default Claudia's cage is done!

Magic done by Steve Gatrell...the guru who does fab work for Rothsport. He's a racer and builder also, one of the best.

Anyway, for those who don't hang out in the racing forum often, this can come as a shock; to see what once was a gorgeous, 45K mile, pristine original RSA in this condition (don't worry, she'll be pretty once again). But she's now being prepared to do what she was bred to do, and I can only think she'll do it well.

In this community, cages are considered not only as primary safety devices, but also as an art form. A good fab guy can lay the tubes in close to the body, the welds themselves can be gorgeous, and the layout is often a challenge. Here, the factory Matter concept is altered a bit, in that the main hoop above the seats is not bent to accomodate the bow in the roof. NASA only allows 4 bends in the main hoop, so Jeff and Steve had to alter their primary design.

I realy like it. Note how the cage is stiched into the chassis, the tightness of the tubing to the body, and the bends in the side bars to accomodate the new design.

I had planned on holding the pics until the paint is all done...but the raw work is just too nice not to present here.

By the way, it would be the cherry on top if you could spend a weekend at the new grass valley track once all the work is completed. Not sure if your schedule permits but you would love the track if you haven't already been there.

Without question, the car will be there for a test & tune day.

...and you keep you big size 13 flat on the throttle!!!!

Edit to add: I won't be able to make it out, but Steve and Jeff will have the car out for the initial setup.

Gloves, Shoes.

BTW, I mentioned to Steve that I can try to accompany the team out to Grass Valley to photograph/video, if that's okay with you. I would love to capture some action shots of the car out in that wild atmosphere...

We'd be honored Tom...but I thought Claudia was going incognito with a big nose and moustache.

Nice Dude. Will keep you nice and safe as you exit the track as a certain signal orange car appears in your mirrors!

All kidding aside, it is really a joy to see a guy really try to it right form the get go. Good Job Kai!!!!!

Cant wait to see her in all her glory.
