what is the offset of the 8" wheel?

would you also consider an adapter or only a spacer?

stock 964 rear 8 was ET52 or 52.3, 9ET55 was also an oe fit, these are ~10mm closer to the lip than the 8, so use a 10mm spacer for the same appearance

I have run 18mm on the backs with standard oe cup 1's and there is still plenty of space.

Good question. Am thinking of spacing my Cup1s on front and back to Cup spec. Is it true the supercup RSs were 9.5 Cup1s and 8s on front?

Am gunna either space my 9s on rear or my standard 8s on rear too!

On genuine cup1 8s rears a 10mm spacer is fine.

I though that the maximum spacer width on OE wheel studs were 7mm, without changing anything!!!

I have 10ET40 which is pretty much the maxium you can push the outside edge of the rim. Here is the outline .....
https://rennlist.com/forums/964-foru...ghlight=10ET40

Using my 10ET40 as a benchmark and using this link to compare to 8ET52 ....
http://www.rimsntires.com/specs.jsp

We can learn the following:

10ET40
hub to outside rim edge = 74mm
hub to inside rim edge = 180mm

8ET52
hub to outside rim edge = 36mm
hub to inside rim edge = 167mm

So to put your 8ET52 in the same position as my 10ET40, you would need a spacer/adapter as follows:
= 74-36
= 38mm - that is pretty huge so i guess that means an adapter not a spacer.

Note this requires full negative camber and potentially a few mm guard roll. Going about 30-33mm would be safe.

Those are the 18" OZ Alleggerrita's - correct? I have a winter set on my turbo that are identical. I am going to try them out on the 964. Might require new wheels for the turbo!

I was in a similar situation recently and had some good advice on here, buy went my own way and had a few problems. My car was actually in today getting the camber adjusted slightly to accomodate the wheel.

I have 8inch rear wheel with offset of 52 on my cup 1 wheels, i got 255/40/17 conti tyres.

I was told that 18mm bolt on spacer (h&r's) should be fine but they would kindly agreed to swap them if the tyres rubbed the wheel arch. Well they did rub quite badly! So they swapped for a 15mm (which I think is the smallest bolt on type) and fitted these last week, and these only just rubbed a very small amount on the side wall, only just touching. I Was a bit gutted now having spent £130.

The car was into Unit 11 warrington today and they changed camber to neg 1.5 deg on rear. I dont track the car and did not want excessive wear on the rears so this was perfect for the road, could not tell any difference for how i use the car on the road.

I also have billstein hd shocks with Eibach lower springs. So i hope this helps you given my similar situation.

I also have 6mm shims spacers on the front using original studs, some recommend 5mm max but had the garage check the stud length today and no probs, was easy enough threads into the wheel nuts.

I can get some pics if you need to see it with my set up, if this helps

where did it rub?
a) on the outside edge/lip of the guard?
b) an inch or so inside the edge/lip of the guard when the suspension compressed during cornering/bumps?

Sml, it rubbed when the suspension compressed on the inner lip of the wheel arch right on the corner of my tyre, if that makes sense.

With the 15mm it was almost there but was contacting the side wall of the tyre. If you were looking at the rear wheel (rhs) with the oil tank, it rubbed at the 11'oclock position.

No contact on the inside of the wheel

Tim,

Would love to see some pics as I have just bought 15mm + 6mm spacers and am pretty much set on the Eibach and Bilstein combination. It's a bit of a worry though as I have 9" rears et55. My rims are by my calc are already 9.7mm closer to the wheelarch v your 8"ers.
