a) right on the corner of the fender on that metal fold/lip on the arch corner edge is located, or
b) an inch or so inside of the fender behind the metal fold/lip on the arch corner edge

I have 10ET40 which is pretty much the maxium you can push the outside edge of the rim. Here is the outline .....

Using my 10ET40 as a benchmark and using this link to compare to 8ET52 ....

We can learn the following:
10ET40
hub to outside rim edge = 74mm
hub to inside rim edge = 180mm
8ET52
hub to outside rim edge = 36mm
hub to inside rim edge = 167mm
So to put your 8ET52 in the same position as my 10ET40, you would need a spacer/adapter as follows:
= 74-36
= 38mm - that is pretty huge so i guess that means an adapter not a spacer.
Note this requires full negative camber and potentially a few mm guard roll. Going about 30-33mm would be safe.

the full neg camber looks good and goes great.
i checked my calcs and the calcs are correct ... so my 10ET40 will still be 10mm further outwards compared to your 8ET52 + 28mm spacer. as the suspension compresses the wheel moves on an arc pulling it inwards .. in addition the neg camber obviously helps.

btw.. dont stress when you see those photos above ... in those photos above, the car is sitting super high. as the car is lowered and the suspension compresses, the wheel definitely tucks inwards quite a lot due to the arc .. add in some more neg camber and there is plenty of room

Yeah; my car is sitting a little high at the front due to slope of the drive, so it might not give you the full picture.
Assume that my wheels are same as yours? (8ET52 at the rear). I had to change camber from -0.7Deg to -1.5Deg in order to get the wheel to fit and not contact the body with my 15mm spacers. Although its very close and only just fits! (my arches / fender lip are not rolled so this may be a option to consider)
The 26mm spacer seems a big old spacer to accommodate, I'm interested to see how you get on

as your car is a bit high in the rear, how did you compress the suspension to check the clearance to the fender/guard before knowing that there was insufficient clearance?

by the way .. my calcs were based on the wheel width only.
i had a 265 tyre on the 10" wheel which might be a more 'stretched' fit compared to your tyre width on the 8" wheel (ie 265 on a 10" wheel might be more of a stretched/rounded corner on the tyre, rather than squashing a wide tyre on a 8" rim).
ie .. so also consider the corner profile of your tyre.

I tried all sorts to give me an idea, the best seemed to be by driving the car on to the pavement / sidewalk with a high kerb with front LHS and then the rear and this helped compress the suspension pretty damn close to get a good idea of what was going to fit.
When the 18mm didnt fit, these went back and exchanged for 15mm, after a test drive I found marks on tyre corner and reminance of Black rubber on the inside of the wheel arch lip. So i had my local porche guy do the geometry and camber. Suprised to see how much the wheel pulled in when the neg camber was set up.

@Henrik964 .. here is a quick pic of the profile of the 265 on 10" so you can see the corner profile ... hopefully your 8" rear wheel has a similar profile!? ie hopefully not a bulging wide tyre on an 8" wheel .. at a rough guess, this could make a 10-15mm difference to the fit.

Think I have 255 40 17... will take pictures friday and post. Not very optimistic when I see the pics....probably need to get another set of 21 mm adapters...

ok, here is the car with 28 mm adapters and 8" cup I:s. No wheel allignment yet, but will do it later this week, also lower the rear 1 cm more. Works so far.
