Default Backdated fuel tank?

Has anyone on here considered backdating their gas tank to a 911 SC? On appearances, it would seem to be an improvement on CG for the overall balance of the car.

Is this crazy talk?

I would think Porsche took balance into consideration when they designed the 964 tank. Safety also plays a possibly larger role in their choice.

Yes. Tons of work for little if any gain.

As an aside, I've got 911s with both types of tanks, and the 964 design actually allows a good bit more luggage in the trunk FWIW.

The 964 fuel tank is better for lowering polar moment of inertia than the old 911 fuel tank. Almost all of the 964 fuel tank is behind the centerline of the front axle.

But in front of the axle, it should make a better counterbalance to that big honking weight at the rear, no?

I miss the SC's capability to carry my golf clubs. I use a ping hoofer bag and they would go in the frunk of my 911 SC. Now they ride diagonally behind the front seat.
