Mine makes a sort of soft grinding noise when it lowers. Just wondering if this is normal or if the gearbox is on the way out.

I found an ebay offer of a repair kit for a replacemant seal bearing and was wondering if anyone has tried this? http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/PORSCHE-96...item45fa26ad13

First make sure the cover screws are in the right places. Mine made a grinding noise and I took the cover off only to discover that someone had it appart before and didn't put it back correctly. There are two different length screws and if you reverse them the long one rubs on the big half gear. I put back together correctly and its quiet as a mouse.

I've repaired my spoiler gearbox. The bearing inside was rusted and damaged. The repair is pretty easy.

"Kit".

I wonder if there is anything in the "kit" besides the bearing...?

I got my bearing at the local auto parts store, about five bucks with tax

I waited too long and my motor burned up, Its an easy fix if you follow the instructions..Only difficulty I had was removing the worm gear from the end as my bearing came apart at the first strike of the hammer. Used 3m Weatherstrip adhesive to put it all back together..
